Over the Hill Kayaking
Recently, Dick Stuart initiated a kayaking group to enjoy the camaraderie of the Over the Hill Hikers community on the water. It's a success! Several additional gatherings are planned throughout the summer. For more information, and to join this distribution list, please email him directly at: randrstuart@gmail.com

July 16 - Whiteface & Passaconaway
Dick and Doug went clockwise on the route, crossing from Dicey's Mill trail to Blueberry Ledge via the steep Tom Wiggin trail, and up to Whiteface (pic of Doug), then over the Rollins trail back to Dicey's Mill trail for the final ascent to Passaconaway.
Meanwhile, Ellen and Sharon had started earlier, doing the route counterclockwise. We met on the Rollins Trail.

Adams, Madison, July 11
Dick did Adams and Madison solo, taking advantage of great hiking weather and the fabulous views from the second and fourth highest of the 4K peaks. Shown are the AMC hut and Madison, from the flank of Adams, then the view from Adams looking across the Great Gulf at Washington.

Turtles hike Kimball Forest, July 10, 2018
11 Turtles enjoyed a beautiful day in the Kimball Forest preserve climbing Locke Hill . We ate our lunch in the “ Hall of the Mountain King” aka the stone chairs overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. We added a new Turtle today: Terry from Derry!
A Group hikes Tecumseh, July 3rd, 2018
John and Doug hiked Mt Tecumseh on Tuesday July 3. It was hot and muggy the whole way even though the hikers were back down before noon. A small bear was sighted along Tripoli Rd. Tecumseh, at 4003 feet, is the lowest and one of the closest 4000 footers.

B group, attempts to hike in 97 degree heat, July 5th, 2018
NH is experiencing a "wicked heat wave", and a few of us B hikers attempt to enjoy the day; but eventually submit to the idea that the heat is winning.
As we walked the trail up Mt. Roberts in 97 degree heat, we did have a bear sighting along the trail as he was hanging out in a tree. We all got a pretty good look as we scurried past the young bear, none of us taking time to break out our camera. It was an amazing sight, and hopefully the closest I'll ever come to a bear.
We look forward to the heat wave ending, these days are better spent at the lake than the trail.
