B Hikers on Morgan-Percival

We dodged the bugs and enjoyed the views this week on Morgan-Percival. Some of us even braved the ladders. (And some of us went around...)

B Group on Mt. Isreal

The B Group stayed right here in our back yard and beat the rain today on Mt. Isreal. And the cooler temps kept the bugs away! Thank you, Mary, for leading.

Mt Tecumseh - May 17, 2022

Four of us walked up Tecumseh from the ski area on a breezy but mostly sunny day. Up top there was a stiff breeze, making the 40s chill that much more uncomfortable. Pictured below are Wharton, Denise, Dick, and Pat.

Upcoming Potluck for all Over the Hill Hikers, June 22nd, 2022

This year's annual Over the Hill Hikers potluck will be June 22nd, at the Sandwich Fairgrounds outdoor pavilion, (11:30am - 2pm.)

Our guest speaker is Kim Lesnewski, President and Training Committee Chair, from the Lakes Region Search and Rescue Team serving the White Mountains and Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

Kim is also the proud grandparent of an enthusiastic 5 year old granddaughter known as "Littlefoot" who she helped support during her hiking adventures, as she became the youngest person to complete the NH 48 4,000 footers.  https://www.wmur.com/article/new-hampshire-48-4000-footer-little-foot/37498560.

Kim is an established hiker in New Hampshire, hiking in all seasons and weather conditions.  Her mission with the Lakes Region Search and Rescue is to assist New Hampshire Fish and Game in carrying out backcountry search and rescue operations in the southern White Mountain and Lakes Region, and in promoting safety in outdoor recreational activities.

I hope you will save the date for our upcoming potluck, June 22nd at 11:30.

Sincerely,

Tracy Ripkey

Black Mountain, May 12, 2022

The OTHH B group hiked the Chippewa trail to the summit of Black Mountain, located in Benton, NH.

The side trip at the end to see the Lime Kilns was a beautiful setting.

Mt. Kearsarge North, May 10th, 2022

6 of us made the hike up Mt. Kearsarge North to the fire tower, to admire the incredible views.  Trails were in good condition, still a bit of snow / ice to navigate (micro spikes worked well).  Had a great lunch soaking up the sunshine and warm temps.

B group, back at it for 2022... Mt. Willard, Mt. Major and Mt. Roberts

The B group (which prefer "moderate hikes" and a good variety of the 52 With a View peaks), kicked off their hiking season for 2022 with Mt. Willard (a 52 WAV) on April 21, 2022.  This was unusually early in the season in comparison to previous years, but warmer weather, along with putting winter and a pandemic behind us does that.  Here are some pictures of each of the past 3 B group hikes...

And on May 5th, 2022, Ginger lead a B group hike to Mt. Roberts... (a 52 WAV).

Mt Shaw - May 3, 2022

Four of us hiked up Mt Shaw (2990') on a cool, cloudy day. Pictured below on top of Shaw are Ginger, Pat, and Wharton, with that, ah, "stunning view" behind them (oh, well, clouds will do that to an otherwise nice vista).
