The group was provided with excellent views once again on Wednesday. Six hikers started at the bottom of the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail, just below the Cog Railway Station, and hiked up to the Lake of the Clouds Hut. Ginnette, Dick, Doug, Frank, John and Larry enjoyed a brief rest there before continuing. Ginnette went up to the Westside Trail and down the Jewell Trail. The others climbed up Monroe (5384) on the Monroe Loop, went back to the hut and then headed up to Washington (6288) on the Crawford Path.
The weather was perfect for hiking and viewing. We could see Cabot, The Bulge, The Horn, Starr King, Waumbek, the whole Carter Moriah Range, all of the northern and southern Presidentials, Tom, Field, Willey, Kearsarge North, Hale, both Twins, Guyot, Bond, Carrigain, Lafayette, Lincoln, Little Haystack, Liberty, Flume, Moosilauke, both Osceloas, all 3 Tripyramids, Whiteface, Passaconaway and Chocorua. We also saw Wildcat, Bretton Woods, Attitash and Loon ski areas. We could see Killingon and Pico Peak in Vermont.
We descended along the Gulfside and Jewell trails.

Below are Doug and Frank heading down from Washington. It's hard to believe there is a trail among the rocks. And yes, that is a small patch of snow just below the Edmands Col to the left of Adams. Adams is just beyond Doug and Madison is to the right.
