On Sept. 22, the Friday Walkers hiked to Heron Pond in Chocorua. It was good to see the pond full of water as compared to previous summers. Monty showed us how to recognize Beech Bark Disease, which is having a major impact on the health of area beech trees -- and will affect the availability of the beech nuts which are a major source of food for bears and other animals.
