September 5, 2023 - Mt Garfield

 Dick and Pat started early on the trail up Mt Garfield, taking advantage of the cooler low forest on a warm, humid day. Up top, the views to the south take in the Pemigewasset Wilderness, from the "back side" of the Franconia Ridge, Owls Head, and the Bonds. Below, Pat enjoys lunch, with Lafayette and Lincoln in the background, with the prominent points of Liberty and Flume further down the ridge.

Meanwhile, to the north, the normal view, empty of any nearby mountain peaks, was a sea of low, sunlit-white cloud, with the top even with us. It was almost "kissing close" and looked as though it might wash over us at any time (it didn't).
