Three of us took a walk up Mt Roberts in the Ossipee Range, on a cold but sunny morning before the snow storm. It was (yet another) microspikes day, as snow cover from before was greatly thinned by weather and packed down by foot traffic. Below are Tom and Dick at the top, with white-peaked Mt Washington far in the distance (pic by Wharton). We took the long way down, via the ridge trail past the top of Faraway, then winding down along the Faraway Mtn and Cold Spring trails.

Snowshoe at Page Pond February 24
Fifteen members enjoyed a picturesque snowshoe trek through the newer part of the Page Pond Community Forest from the Barnard Ridge Road trailhead. The freshly fallen snow gave the leaders a little workout and the use of snowshoes (versus spikes) kept us all warm on this chilly morning. Our plan was to hike about 2 miles but Doug (our leader) wanted to add some distance by zig-zagging the trails and we all followed! After our expedition, we all enjoyed the traditional "soup a thon" and lots of dessert contributions from the group at the Wright's house.

Starr King and Waumbek - February 12, 2023
Six of us OTHH hiked up to Starr King (a 52WAV), then over the ridge to Waumbek (a 4K), on a wonderful, sunny, reasonably mild day (as winter days go). The trail had been well packed by so much foot travel that the snowshoes stayed in the cars; microspikes were used the entire way. Below, at the trailhead, are Patsy, Steve, Pam, Marie and Matt (pic by Dick).
Then, at the outlook just past the Starr King peak, is a group pic of us taken by another hiker. In the background is the snow-covered peaks of the northern presidential range.
Here is one taken on the trek over to Waumbek (pic by Dick).
