The 2025 schedule for "A" hikes is now available. Click the link below to see the schedule. For those interested in leading a hike, email Doug at the email address shown below and he will update the schedule with your information. If you are interested in joining a hike, you can pencil the date in your schedule but understand that the weather is an important factor and the date of the hike might change on short notice.
The "A" hikes are usually one or more of the NH 48 4000 footers. Some hikes are loops and some are out and back. There are a few options if you want to consider hiking one of these hikes. You can go part way up and descend at any point or you can go to just one of the summits and then descend. There is usually an early start and a late start. Carpooling is optional and up to those that join the hike that day.
The leader responsibilities are to observe the weather forecasts starting about 5 days before the hike and continuing up to that morning. If the weather is not favorable, it is possible to pick another day or pick another summit that would have better weather. The leader also sends out the email with the hike details. The leader keeps track of who will be on the hike and sends out an email to those that will attend to see if anyone wants to carpool. On the day of the hike, the leader organizes the group to get them going. The leader does not have to be at the front of the group during the hike but keeps track of everybody to make sure we all are accounted for. If the weather turns unfavorable, the leader can decide that the hikers should head down. The leader also should take some pictures to include with the write-up for the OTHH blog.
If you are interested in being a leader, please email Doug at othhahikes@gmail.com with your contact info and that will be added to the schedule.
If you are interested in joining a specific hike, when you receive the email announcing the hike, please respond to that email.
Other hikes that might be added after October 7 include: Hale, Eisenhower, Jackson, Pierce, Moosilauke and Tecumseh.
We look forward to seeing you on the hikes!
Will there be a 2025 listing of schedule of hiking trip posted for the up coming months, interested in completing last 12 hikes to complete NH 48’s.
