2024 Soup and Snowshoe

We look forward to many fun winter adventures as we gather for our traditional Snowshoe & Soup Fridays.  As we always say, it is partly about the snowshoeing, largely about the SOUP, and mostly about the fun of getting together...

Here are a few reminders as we plan for the 2024 season....

* If you or someone you know would like to be added to the distribution list, please contact othhsnowshoe@gmail.com.

* If you would like to sign up to host one of our outings, please sign yourself up on the attached form, found through this Google Link.

Or, just send me the info directly to othhsnowshoe@gmail.com and I'll sign you up.

"But what do you need to know if I'm going to host", you ask?

* Your name
* Your email and a contact phone
* The date you plan to host (slots are listed on the sheet)
* Where you plan to lead your snowshoe
* How many people you can accomodate for lunch

"And what am I signing up for?"

* Sign up for a Friday morning in January, February or March.
* Plan a snowshoe route of about 2 to 3 miles, either flat or moderate. Some of our outings have been on established trails, such as Chapman Sanctuary, some are around the hosts' own property, or across a frozen pond.
* Host the group at your home or some other nearby location after the snowshoe.
* Provide soup and whatever else you would like.
* Ask people to bring whatever you would like them to bring - sandwiches, dessert, bread, drinks.  Some hosts like to provide most of the meal, others provide soup and make it a pot-luck from there.  Totally up to you, and we like both!
* You get to decide how many people you can accommodate - anywhere from 10 to 25 is fine.
* About a week before your date, send details to me with directions to the meeting place, directions to your home, what you would like people to bring, and I will forward that to the group on your behalf.  I'll share more details about this as we get closer to your hosting date.

We can't make you responsible for ensuring good snow cover, so we'll all pitch in by wishing for a good snow year!

So, that's it.  We already have four hosts signed up, so I know it is going to be a fun season!
