May 13 - Kearsarge North
On a great hiking day, under sunny skies, nine of us OTHH took a walk up Kearsarge North (a 52WAV), overlooking North Conway. The last of the snow and ice up high was just about gone, and we made the ascent in a half hour less than "book time." Atop the well-maintained fire tower on the summit, the 360-degree views were great, as usual, including Mt Washington to the north, with snow visible here and there. Below, as we were about to start back down, are Wharton, Steve M., Dick, Jane, Marie, Ginger, and Michele.

B group hike, Mt. Cube, May 9th, 2024
The B group hiked up to Mt. Cube (South) today for our first official hike of the 2024 season. Great day, a little cool and overcast, but that was enjoyable, as there were no bugs!!!
We celebrated another lap around the sun for Cathy, complete with a birthday serenade and brownies.
What a great way to kick off our season.

Chocorua, Middle Sister - May 7, 2024
After "warming up" on hikes to Red Hill, the Belknaps, and South Moat to kick off the group's spring hiking season, nine of us took the Piper Trail to the top of Chocorua. Three others went up via the Champney Falls Trail, from the Kancamagus Highway. After lunch up top and descent from the summit cone, a few of us took the side trail up to Middle Sister (another 52WAV), then retraced and continued on back down Piper. For those of us doing both peaks, this was a ten-mile, 3000 ft hike, admittedly aggressive for so early in the season. But that helps condition us for hikes yet to come. Below, at the top, are (front) Ginger, (next row) Wharton, Michele, Pat, Jane, Dick, Pam, Larry, Steve M., and (rear) patsy, Steve V., Doug.
