Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day! It was a 50 cent'r, as they say on the local radio station WMWV. We had the most perfect weather, and the trail was gorgeous.
This hike is notorious for being a muddy bog hike, and it did not disappoint those who joined me this week. It has it all... a good stretch of hiking along the AT, a shelter, beautiful sounds and scenery from the stream running along side the trail, a wicked steep climb, and of course, a muddy, soupy stretch of bog with slippery plank after slippery plank leading you to an open summit. And to add to the diversity, we added a cool temp, with a pleasant breeze and a gentle rain.
I happen to like this hike with all that it has to offer, but some may say it's a one and done. None the less, it's a great 52 With a View, and for some, that means they are closer to their goal.
The Turtles hiked the Brooks Fisher trail on a beautiful, cool, breezy day. At the top, the sun came out for a beautiful view of Squam Lake and the Rattlesnakes. Since the leader forgot to take a picture with that view, here we are at the kiosk instead!

What started out another humid day, turned in to a lovely climb up to Jennings Peak and Sandwich Dome. While the views are not as wide open as they once may have been, there is still plenty of scenery to enjoy. The trails were in good condition, and the hike was enjoyed by us all.

While rain was expected, at some point during the hike, thunderstorms were not expected until after the hike was completed. Alas, the weather Gods decided to grace us with a T-storm cell that hung around for hours and drenched us with torrential rain. But not before the group summited, allowing Michele and Barbara to complete their 52 WAV journey. Despite the rain, thunder and lightning, a good time was had by all!

The B Group hiked Mt Avalon on Friday, hydrating aggressively in the warm, humid weather. After reaching the summit, Jonathan hiked on, heading for an overnight at Guyot Shelter. The gals descended and enjoyed a nice lunch at Mad River Coffee Roastery. From left: Katherine, Mary, Jonathan, and new member Brenda.
